MyMedicare

MyMedicare is a voluntary patient registration system designed to strengthen the connection between patients, their general practice, GP, and primary care team.

Research shows that regularly seeing the same GP and healthcare team leads to better health outcomes. By registering with MyMedicare, both patients and general practices can benefit from additional government support to enhance targeted, patient-centred care.

Key benefits include:

  • Longer funded telehealth consultations for registered patients

  • Bulk-billed longer telehealth consultations for children under 16 and Commonwealth concession card holders at the new triple bulk billing rate

  • Additional funding for GPs to support proactive care for aged care residents, including regular visits and care planning

From 1 October 2023, MyMedicare is open for voluntary registration to all Australians with a Medicare card or a Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Veteran Card.

General Practice in Aged Care Incentive

The General Practice in Aged Care Incentive is a payment to support quality health care for permanent residents of aged care homes.

Chronic Conditions Management

From 1 July 2025, current GP Management Plan and Team Care Arrangements will be replaced with a single GP Chronic Condition Management Plan.
